Virtual OT and Coaching- Areas of focus

  • Chronic Pain

Chronic pain impacts the lives of 7.63 million people in Canada (Government of Canada, 2020). Yet, chronic pain is misunderstood by many people and treatment of it can be a confusing and frustrating process.

Understanding why pain persists and learning ways to self manage it can be extremely freeing for those who live with it. I have combined my personal experience of chronic pain with years of compiling research and studying neuroscience into an easy to understand step-wise and holistic program.

As we work together, you will gain a better understanding of your pain and strategies to manage it. I believe you can get back to doing the things you love without pain holding you back as much as it does now: just like me and many of my clients have been able to!

  • Brain Injury

Concussions and brain injuries can impact our lives in such HUGE ways and really prevent us from doing what we need and want to do. I have dedicated a large portion of my schooling, career and free time to studying how to help people with concussions and brain injuries get back to their lives in a meaningful way.

When working with me, I can share recent evidence on best practices for managing concussion, provide cognitive rehabilitation and give you education on why you feel the way you feel and implement strategies to help you reach your goals.

As always, my approach is holistic and functional so we will dive in to all areas of your life that may be contributing to your prolonged symptoms. I can also help guide you through the confusing health care system and make appropriate referrals.

  • Mental Health

My approach to supporting those with mental health difficulties is functional, holistic and I place a high emphasis on empathy, validation and compassion. I understand the intersectionality of personal and societal factors that contribute to mental health. I believe that our emotions are deeply connected to our bodies as well and seek to help people develop a compassionate relationship with their bodies. Together, we can address sleep, negative thought patterns, nutrition, social engagement, routine, setting realistic goals and rewiring your brain to be more content and self compassionate.

I have training/experience in various modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Non-Violent Communication, Polyvagal theory/Nervous System Regulation, Self Compassion Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and I use a combination of these in our sessions. My main goal is to help you feel heard, validated and supported while giving you clear and easy strategies for how to manage what you are going through.

  • Chronic Fatigue / Long Covid

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Long COVID can leave you feeling confused and hopeless. Brain fog and fatigue can make it harder to navigate the health care system. It is important to find the right practitioners who understand these conditions and the types of treatments that can help you get back to doing the things you love.

We can work together to create a gentle program based on your symptoms and meeting you where you are at.
