It’s so good to meet you

My name is Zara Dureno. I am a licensed Occupational Therapist and a Neuro-coach. I am extremely passionate about all things brain health and I have a strong skill set in chronic pain, mental health and concussion.

I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a masters of Occupational Therapy and the University of Windsor with Honours in Psychology (a clinical focus of neuroscience). I am committed to patient centred and evidence-based care that is holistic and filled with compassion. I am focused on building strong relationships with my clients; making sure each person knows they are going to receive the best possible care. For me, nothing is more fulfilling than to aide in someone’s recovery process and witness them develop the skills needed to live their lives in the ways they truly want to live.

I have extensive training in mental health, concussion and chronic pain. I have done presentations on chronic pain for national organizations to thousands of healthcare practitioners.

Through my work and volunteering in many remote communities around the world, I have developed a creative, industrious, and culturally sensitive approach to my practice. I also have lived experience with all of the areas I focus on in my practice and therefore have a deep understanding of how difficult they can be and an incredibly strong desire to provide the best possible therapy to those currently going through it.

When I am not working with my amazing clients, I can be found adventuring through the mountains, playing music, trying out a new cookie recipe, meditating, gardening, making art and volunteering.

What is Occupational Therapy?

No, it is not just helping people with their jobs and work! We can help people return to work or school but it is much beyond that. “Occupation” is defined as anything that occupies your time that is meaningful. Occupational Therapists use meaningful activities (work, school, leisure, self care etc) as a part of therapy. We are experts in function and helping people with concrete strategies and practical solutions to get you back doing the things you love and managing your symptoms.

I am licensed as an OT in British Columbia, Canada. Anyone who lives outside of BC can access my coaching services instead.

I would love to chat with you!
